Ryan Cranford joins Okanagan Hockey Academy as an Assistant Coach, bringing a strong background as a player and leader at the junior, university, and professional levels.
Cranford spent four seasons with the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs, appearing in 267 games and serving as team captain in his final season. Known for his work ethic, leadership, and commitment both on and off the ice, he was recognized in the OHL Coaches’ Poll as one of the league’s hardest-working and top defensive players. He was also named his team’s Academic Player of the Year.
Following his OHL career, Ryan attended Queen’s University, where he played four seasons as a student-athlete while completing his bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He served as both an assistant captain and captain during his university career before continuing to play professionally for two seasons in the ECHL with the Atlanta Gladiators and later overseas with the Meudon Comรจtes in France.
Throughout his playing career, Ryan developed a passion for coaching and player development, working with athletes of various ages and skill levels through team practices and hockey development programs. Drawing on his experience at the junior, university, and professional levels, he brings a strong understanding of the skills, habits, and mindset required to succeed in the game.
Ryan is passionate about helping student-athletes develop their individual skills while emphasizing the importance of competing, work ethic, leadership, and being a strong teammate. He looks forward to bringing his experience to OHA and helping the next generation of hockey players grow both on and off the ice.
