JUSTIN SANDERSON, ASSISTANT COACH, U15

A proud OHA alumnus, Justin spent three formative years at the Academy from 2014 to 2017, serving as team captain for two seasons. During his playing career at OHA, he earned back-to-back Most Inspirational Player honours and was recognized as the team’s Top Defensive Playerโ€”awards that reflected not only his performance on the ice, but also the leadership, character, and work ethic he brought to the locker room every day.

Following OHA, Justin continued his playing career with the Osoyoos Coyotes before moving to Ontario, where he completed his bachelorโ€™s degree at the University of Guelph while playing two additional seasons of junior hockey. During that time, he was a key contributor to two championship teams.

After retiring from competitive hockey, Justin pursued a Master of Arts in Sports Ethics and Integrity, studying at leading universities across Europe. His research focused on hockey player well-being and development, and he graduated magna cum laude after successfully defending his thesis.

Justin returns to OHA with a unique combination of firsthand experience as a student-athlete, years of competitive playing experience, and an academic background dedicated to athlete development. His passion lies in helping young athletes reach their potential on the ice while fostering the character, resilience, and life skills that will serve them well beyond the game.
