Dennis McKinnon brings 35 years of coaching and scouting experience to Okanagan Hockey Academy, where he serves as Head Coach of the U15 Prep team.
McKinnon’s coaching career includes head coaching roles with the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters and AJHL’s Sherwood Park Crusaders, as well as time in the WHL as an Assistant Coach with the Tri-City Americans. He has also spent more than 25 years as a WHL scout, giving him an extensive understanding of the player pathway and what it takes for young athletes to progress through the highest levels of junior hockey.
Dennis joined Okanagan Hockey Academy in 2016 and has played an important role in the development of student-athletes at the Academy. In 2025, he guided the OHA U17 team to a CSSHL championship, and his work with the program was recognized in 2026 when he was named the CSSHL U17 Prep Coach of the Year.
Drawing on decades of experience at the junior, major junior, and academy levels, Dennis brings a strong understanding of player development and a wealth of knowledge about the game. He is committed to helping young athletes build the skills, habits, confidence, and mindset needed to succeed both on the ice and at the next level.
